From the Bedfordshire Times, 6 April 1979

" Ravensden WI held its first meeting in October 1953. There were 25 members in the early days but this number has fluctuated from year to year and now there are 46.
Founder president was Mrs.Ursula Saltmarsh, who now lives in the West Country. Miss Wendy Steele is now the president and joined the organisation only four years ago. She is well known throughout the County for public speaking.

Last year Ravensden celebrated its Silver Jubilee by having dinner at the Chequers, Keysoe. Guests of honour were the county chairman and secretary. The WI has met in the village hall since it began and this year is holding its Triennial May Fair there on May 12. This will be opened by Coun. Mrs. Anthony Polhill. The annual meeting to elect new officers to the committee is also to be held in May and various speakers will be present. "
