Customers put out blaze - Article from 1965

" A fire thought to be caused by an electric blanket at the Horse & Jockey public house, Bedford was put out by customers on Wednesday evening. The fire broke out in a bedroom about 9.45 destroying bedclothes, a carpet and various items of clothing. 'The customers were wonderful' said the wife of the publican, Mrs.Whitlock. They rallied around with buckets of water and the fire was put out before the fire brigade arrived. "
